The Trailside House is perfectly located for the classic Vermont getaway. Nestled at the base of the Green Mountains adjacent to the Green Mountain National Forest, this unique setting provides for the perfect Vermont escape while allowing easy and convenient access to the finest amenities that Vermont has to offer.
Skiing at nearby Bromley (www.bromley.com) and Stratton (www.straton.com) resorts and ice skating at the Manchester Skating Rink, (www.rileyrink.com) or taking your snow mobiles out on the endless VAST (Vermont Association of Snow Travelers- www.vtvast.org ) maintained snow mobile trails will make you yearn for the warmth of the hearth stove and outdoor hot tub with the views of the Green Mountain peaks. Access to the hiking and snow mobile trails begins just through the stone wall at the end of the backyard!
Mount Tabor is a classic Vermont town locked in time. It is a neighborhood of permanent residents, not at all a resort or “developed” area. It is home to The Nickols Store, made famous in the Diane Keaton movie “Baby Boom”, which actually pretty clearly depicts the adventures of a city person adapting to life in rural Vermont. The town of Danby is a half-mile across Vermont Route 7 and is a quaint town with an great inn, antique stores and churches. The area is famous for the snow white marble quarried there that was used to build the White House and locally is still used for sidewalks and foundations.
Country roads lead to adventure in all directions. The “big city” of Rutland is 20 minutes north.
